1. Choosing the Right Transport Method
- HIAB Cranes & Truck mounted Cranes: HIAB (Hydrauliska Industri AB) cranes are ideal for lifting and placing containers in tight or challenging spaces. These truck-mounted cranes provide flexibility and precision.
- Flatbed Trucks: Suitable for straightforward delivery to accessible locations, flatbed trucks are a cost-effective option for container transport. But the customer is required to offload the container themselves on delivery/
- Forklift Trucks: Forklifts can be used to to offload containers if they have the correct tonnage capabilities. For example 2x 5 tonne forklifts could be used to offload a 20ft container. A 16 tonne lifting forklift could off load 20, 30, 40 and 45ft shipping containers, with many containers having lifting eyes ready to be used.

2. Site Preparation
- Access: Ensure the delivery site has adequate access for the transport vehicle. Clear any obstacles that might hinder the process.
- Ground Conditions: Verify that the ground is firm and level to support the weight of the container and transport equipment.
- Turning Circle: Is their appropriate turning circle when accessing the site and whilst maneuvering on site.
3. Safety Measures
- Personnel Safety: Keep personnel clear of the lift area during delivery and placement. Only trained operators should handle the equipment.
- Consider PPE: Though not legally required, PPE, especially hard hats, are a welcome addition and go along way to helping people be and feel more secure.
- Securing the Container: Properly secure the container on the transport vehicle to prevent shifting during transit. Use appropriate restraints and locking mechanisms.
- Communication & Information: The more that we communicate with our customers, the more information we have. The easier the job will be.

- Permits/Movement orders/RAMs: Check if any permits are required for transporting and placing the container, especially if it involves public roads or spaces.
