Key Considerations for Container Transport

1. Choosing the Right Transport Method

  • HIAB Cranes & Truck mounted Cranes: HIAB (Hydrauliska Industri AB) cranes are ideal for lifting and placing containers in tight or challenging spaces. These truck-mounted cranes provide flexibility and precision.
  • Flatbed Trucks: Suitable for straightforward delivery to accessible locations, flatbed trucks are a cost-effective option for container transport. But the customer is required to offload the container themselves on delivery/
  • Forklift Trucks: Forklifts can be used to to offload containers if they have the correct tonnage capabilities. For example 2x 5 tonne forklifts could be used to offload a 20ft container. A 16 tonne lifting forklift could off load 20, 30, 40 and 45ft shipping containers, with many containers having lifting eyes ready to be used.

At Century Containers we have all these capabilities and can offer these to our customers. We also offer transportation solutions to all our clients and customers for lifting and deliverer all containers.

  • Turning Circle: Is their appropriate turning circle when accessing the site and whilst maneuvering on site.

3. Safety Measures

  • Personnel Safety: Keep personnel clear of the lift area during delivery and placement. Only trained operators should handle the equipment.
  • Consider PPE: Though not legally required, PPE, especially hard hats, are a welcome addition and go along way to helping people be and feel more secure.
