The client wanted to introduce multi-functional areas into a newly developed park, aiming to attract both fitness enthusiasts and those looking for leisure. The vision was to create sustainable, quick-to-install and distinct structures that would stand out.
Solution:
Century Container Services utilised 40ft used shipping containers and converted them into the respective units.
Both Units were customised with internal conversions comprising timber frame with Kingspan insulation, plasterboard finish, and fitted with UPVC windows.
Landing Lounge (Café/Coffee Bar) & Take Off Gymnasium:
Inviting Ambiance: Large bi-fold door with glass windows were incorporated, welcoming natural light and providing an expansive feel.
Efficient Utilisation & Optimal Space Management: The interior was finished allowing for an expansive space making optimal use of the container's dimensions and compact footprint.
Eco-friendly Features: Shipping containers play a pivotal role in promoting eco-friendly practices. These robust structures extend their life cycle beyond freight transport, preventing waste and reducing the demand for raw materials commonly used in traditional construction. By refurbishing, converting, and upcycling old containers, we not only reduce the energy consumption and emissions associated with new production but also minimise landfill waste. This sustainable approach to reusing shipping containers embodies the essence of the circular economy, emphasising resource efficiency, waste reduction and the sustainable regeneration of products.
Ventilation & Insulation: To ensure a comfortable workout environment, proper ventilation systems were installed and the container was insulated to regulate temperature.
Aesthetic Appeal: Both units were painted and branded as per the client’s requirements, standing out in terms of their design (re-using shipping containers and been a unique structure), and their vibrant and inviting look.

The transformed containers became the talk of the town. "Landing Lounge" quickly turned into a favourite spot for coffee lovers, while "Take Off" drew fitness enthusiasts eager for a unique workout experience.
